This workshop was great. We learned about models such as:
Landa's Algo-Heuristics -
Ausubel's Advanced Organizers -
Jonassen's CLE's -
Gagne-Briggs Conditions for Learning -
Nelson's Collaborative Problem Solving -
Brown & Campione's Fostering Communities of Learners -
Collins & Stevens – A Cognitive Theory of Inquiry Teaching -
Perkins & Unger – Teaching for Understanding -
Bransford et al, Anchored Instruction
and many more. After we researched these topics we discussed them as a group. It was very helpfun and I learned a lot! Thanks Michelle

Standardized testing
A lesson that would incorporate both technology and deep learning could be one that focuses on math. We could use Brain Pop to go over formulas and use an over head projector or a smart board to practice. We could use certian programs to work on real life problem solving. This is known as deep learning beacuse the students look for underlying patterns, examine, and reflect on their own understandngs. The goals should be to truly understand the math subject that they are learning.

Responces for Week 7
Constructivism is a psychological theory of knowledge which argues that humans construct knowledge and meaning from their experiences. By creating meaningful expierecnes through technology in the classroom it allows the students to learn from experiencing. There are so many ways which you can bring technology into the classroom like blogs, networking, wiki's, maps, webs, smart boards, video, audio, games. One example of how this could work in the classroom is by having students that are learning about third world countries play a game online where they have to survive under the same circumstances in the third world countries. This gives students a real look with having to go to a third world country. Another way is using Brain Pop and Brain Pop Jr. in the classroom. The kids love watching the clips and it really explains things well. Then there follow up activities and quizes that the students can participate in. The really get excited when they hear or see the technology coming out. It truely motivates them. Other tools to help students learn that I would use in the classroom is advanced organizers and concept maps. As you can clearly see all these tools relate back to constructivism.
Concept Maps & Advanced Organizers
I could use both concept maps and advanced organizers in my classroom. When reading a story to the class we could use a concept map to talk about characters and setting. I could use an advanced organizer to organize our map to write a short paragraph. There are many ways to utalize both tools and these tools really help students get their thoughts in an organized way.

Picasa,VoiceThread
Both Picasa and Voice Thread are great educational tools both for inside and outside use because it creates an opportunity to brain storm and think creatively. Students can express themselves by taking photos and posting both works of art or photos and be able to share them with others. They can also comment on them. As a teacher I can also post something and have the students comment and brain storm from whatever I post. I love both of these tools and will use them in the future!

Learning Styles
Based on the readings, I don't think teachers should teach to students’ perceived learning styles because the articles discuss that "most of what we want children to learn is based on meaning, so their superior memory in a specific modality doesn’t give them an advantage just because material is presented in their preferred modality. Whether information is presented auditorily or visually, the student must extract and store its meaning." This means that if you want your student to remember specific piece of information you should try to have it relate to their background knowledge this way it stands out in their minds and they can relate it to something that happened in their past or something that they are interested in. I think that when teaching a lesson you should try to touch on a little bit of every modality and must relate the topic to the students interests; by doing this most of the students should retain the information being giving and can relate to it in a way that they will remember the information.(and it doesn't hurt to make it fun and exciting as well)
